It seems that this could be a good winter to see Northern Hawk-Owls at southern Finland. Voles and mice are low and owls have migrate to south. In last week there has been atleast 5 Owls at here in Kymenlaakso and 4 to 5 near Helsinki.
Also, Pine Grosbeaks have appeared this autumn on the south coast.

So this winter could be a good time to come to Finland and see some good birds. :t:

Oooh, that's tempting... Is there any information online on where and when these birds are being seen?

Finland is very well birded along the main highway going north, with volunteers maintaining and monitoring nest boxes all along the road.
One good source would be FinNature http://finnature.com, they do tours and provide data. Local knowledge is a must here, the country is large and sparsely settled.
