Little gull 2 1st summer on fresh marsh
Little ringed plover 2 on fresh marsh
Black tailed godwit 148 on fresh marsh
Common scoter 20 offshore
Ruff 3 on fresh marsh
Med gull 26 on fresh marsh
Red kite - 1 over east end of reserve
Cuckoo - male singing in reedbed from East Trail
Marsh harrier - 1st confirmed fledged young over reedbed this afternoon

Today's highlights

Little gull 3 1st summer on fresh marsh
Spoonbill 3 west this afternoon
Bittern male still booming
Grasshopper warbler 2 singing on grazing meadow
Black tailed godwit 200 on fresh marsh
Turtle dove 1 in carpark. 1 by Island Hide then in dunes
Med gull 20 on fresh marsh. 1st nest has hatched today with at least 2 chicks seen. 2 new nests located within the fenced area too
Little ringed plover - 2 on fresh marsh

Spoonbill 5 around reserve throughout the day
Grasshopper warbler 2 males on grazing meadow
Black tailed godwit 166 on fresh marsh
Turtle dove 1 in carpark
Med gull 8 on fresh marsh
Red crested pochard 6 in reedbed
Ruff 1 on fresh marsh
Hobby - 1 hunting over reedbed this afternoon

Nuthatch - 1 calling around the visitor centre this morning. A rare bird on the reserve

This is about a meeting, about birds, in Norfolk. Hopefully not breaking too many rules :-)

It's the Summer Meeting of the Ornithological Society of the Middle East on Saturday 1 July at BTO HQ, Thetford. Doors open 10.00. Everyone welcome.

There will be a raffle with a range of prizes and all proceeds will go towards funding the Smartphone App version of the recently published Arabic version of Birds of the Middle East.
