£600 budget new or secondhand?

Hi I am going to get a scope soon and will have £600(ish) to spend. I have read good things about the Avian ed82, but would an older smaller top end scope be better overall. I have seen a few 60mm leica's and Kowa's with eye peice going for not much more.

Any other scopes worth looking at for this price?

tripod not an issue as I have one

Many thanks

Chris

There's a Swarovski ATSHD65 scope with 30x eyepiece on the classifieds section at the moment.

I bought a used Nikon EDII with the 30x eyepiece secondhand, but mine is a straight model, and I am delighted with it. That's a grand's worth of scope and I'd have it like a shot if I were you.

Edit: Check out the used scopes on In-Focus site. They have 2 EDIIs for sale. One with a 20x and a 30x eyepiece and one with a 20-45x zoom, both at £379. Plus if you buy any scope they will supply a Delta V tripod (which is basically a Velbon Sherpa, re-badged) for £59 instead of £129. Chance to pick up a real bargain and have cash in hand.
