Bui Duc Tien - Founder and Bird Leader
Bui Duc Tien is a native of Cuc Phuong National Park. He spent his childhood exploring the area around the forest, and later studied to become a biologist. He began his career as a tour guide for the Ecotourism & Environmental Education Center of Cuc Phuong. When he left that job 16 years later it was with the dream of creating Vietnam Pitta Tours, a company dedicated to birdwatching all over Vietnam.
Today Tien has over 10 years of experience, and is knowledgable about birding sites across the entire country. When he is not guiding he usually spends his time going on research trips to discover new locations, and to find reliable sites for hard-to-find species. He also enjoys working with and mentoring many other up-and-coming Vietnamese bird guides (some of whom also guide for Vietnam Pitta Tours).
