Larus railwayensis (1 Viewer)

Incredible. I reckon it had a bet with it's like minded gulls as to who could nest closest to the rails. Next year it will be 'who will nest between the rails'?? !!

Si.

OMG Cristian. That's some crazy, or very brave bird.

There's a Sandpiper being featured on a television series "Spring Watch" just now who is sitting on a nest on a railway embankment. She kept getting up and running off whenever she heard the train approach, but seems more settled now. Not sure if the eggs are still viable now, though, after the dreadful rain storm over the weekend; the eggs were untended for at least an hour apparently.

Good luck to your gull - can you keep us informed please. I think I'd be more concerned now for the youngsters when they start moving about.

Oh ooops! LOL Cristian, I couldn't read the text.

Oh well, perhaps someone knows.
