Best Optics Shop in Alaska? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

are there any Alaskans on the optics forums? Or anyone that's familiar with Alaska's optics suppliers?

I ask because I am planning a trip there, maybe next year or the year after, depending on job, finance, etc.

As an optics obsessive, I'd like to see as many bins and scopes that I can't see in the UK while I am over there.

I assume there are plenty of hunting and outdoor shops that will have optics in stock but are there any particular shops that will have the widest range of optics to check out?

Are there any shops in Alaska that are THE optics specialist that I really must visit while I'm there?

Thanks
Martin

What time of year are you going to be there Martin? I'm usually in Homer each spring for the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival with quite an array of gear.

Hi Ben,

thinking of spring time. Perhaps all of May and half of June. When is the Kachemak festival? There is also one in Valdez in early May, isn't there?
Sounds ideal, birding and optics all in the same place.

Spring is my favourite time of year. The birdsong and breeding plumage is the best. And the return of daylight to cheer your soul too.

Hi Martin,
The shorebird festival is usually the first week of May. You can check out the website here (hasn't been updated for 2011 yet).

If you think you're going to be able to make it, be sure to let me know. I'm happy to bring any equipment you might want to check out, as long as it's in stock.
