Like a lot of anthropologists, I'm a bit ambivalent about Tribe, although I think the benefits outweigh most of the problems. I thought tonight's was the best I've seen, particularly as Parry wasn't being too much of a 'macho hero', as he is in some of the other shows.
I got an interesting circular email at work from the anthropologist who worked on this programme, Florian Stammler of the Scott Polar Research Institute, and he said that he managed to convince the programme makers that, to the Nenet, the idea that Parry could help them would seem fairly ludicrous. I think that came across well, which is perhaps how it should be throughout the series.
I think I am going deaf! When I heard the trailer for this programme I felt sure the announcer said Prince Harry. Although I'm not an anti-royalist, I decided not to watch.
