Best birding in Costa Rica (1 Viewer)

If you want to see heaps of lowland birds in Costa Rica in one day you have to go birding at the Sarapiqui river, between Peurto Viejo and Rio Frio. You drive north from San Jose to Guapiles, 30 minutes, but turn left to Rio Frio before Guapiles.
Stop at hotels with gardens or wherever and walk along the river. I got complete birding-fritters!!! So many birds, so many new species, you don't know what to do first!! Everytime you look down to page your bird book you may loose sight of another bird. Tick, page, focus, more, tick, page, focus!!!!

Its sounds exciting. Were there any particularly good species that you saw there?

Tom

The Violaceous Trogon, Chestnut-mandibled Toucan, Blue-crowned Motmot, Cinnamon Becard, Wood Thrush, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Yellow-faced Grassquit, Grey-capped Flycatcher, Amazon Kingfisher, Ringed Kingfisher, Grey-blue Heron, ...

The nice thing is that I could do the trip by public transport.
