Help identifying this bird. Thinking it might a juvenile owl or maybe whippoorwill? Can anyone tell from the back?

It is a roosting Carolina Wren! Always surprising to find one

Yes, this is a roosting Carolina Wren. Often mistaken for owls when perched in this manner.

Just about every evening I have a group of these guys looking just like this perched in the 4 corners of the back deck canopy

We had a similar looking pair of Carolina Wrens roosting in our garage all last winter!
