Bird/owl in North Alabama (1 Viewer)

Help identifying this bird. Thinking it might a juvenile owl or maybe whippoorwill? Can anyone tell from the back?

Just about every evening I have a group of these guys looking just like this perched in the 4 corners of the back deck canopy ;)
