Blacksmith Plover, Co. Armagh (1 Viewer)

Not a shortage item in captivity I believe. Our local bird park (Birdworld - what an imaginative title) has some. Unless they are now in Armagh.

Officially*, only 18 are held in captivity in the UK, none in Ireland.

The one (1) at Chester zoo would seem to be the closest to Armagh.

(*according to Isis, but I think most reputable collections would be members, or would they?)
 
I twitched one back in the 70s or 80s - somewhere like Cambs. or Suffolk I recall.
We didn't hold much hope of it being a wild 'un - but it was good to see nevertheless.
