Does anyone know about access to this general area? I believe it to be a part of the Meadowlands Conservancy, but I don't know for sure. It seems like a good place to get Salt marsh and Nelson's Sparrows.

It's a large area with a patchwork of private land, conservation areas, and publicly-financed sports stadia. The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority manages large tracts and is probably your best bet for figuring out which areas are easiest to access.

They also offer birdwatching tours in conjunction with the local Audubon society; you might want to contact the BCAS directly for tips on where to find the species you want.

You should also take a look at eBird and search for your target species: anyplace with lots of observations is going to be accessible to the public.
