First spring male Summer Tanager? (1 Viewer)

Thats what I'm guessing. My camera didn't pick up the yellow. He's yellow anywhere he's not red. His wings are a little darker.

Any suggestions on how to keep him around?

Kevin

Yep, spot on, first-summer male Summer Tanager.

I think they feed mainly on insects and berries in summer, so it might not be too easy to keep it around - it may also be heading a way further north yet on migration. But you could be lucky and have it take up territory, and maybe even breed.

In the longer term, plant plenty of trees, and never use pesticides in the garden!
