Cyprus Warbler - Paphos (1 Viewer)

Well-known member
Beach holiday in Paphos coming up at the end of June.

Can anyone recommend any good locations for Cyprus Warbler and any other species for that matter please?

Thanks

Hi Phil

Have a look at the Birdlife Cyprus website, it provides various birding information for the island including a recent sightings board and a guide to the main birding locations

http://www.birdlifecyprus.org/en/html-11-Birdwatching.html

CW is a resident breeder in Cyprus and is seen all year round but best to check the recent sightings nearer the time to see where it's turning up!

Just a thought, have you access to a car otherwise you could be limited for locations?

Hi Phil,

You might try Asprokremnos Dam for Cyprus Warbler (you'll need a hire car, but its pretty close to Paphos). Look at the scrub below the dam from the road crossing the top of the dam, and also the scrub beyond the small parking area at the end of the short track from the dam.

In June I would also try somewhere like Akrotiri/Kensington Cliffs for Eleonora's Falcon and Griffon Vulture, and for a break from the heat, I'd head up to Troodos village and look for some of the resident subspecies up there.

All the best, Paul
