Hi - can anyone tell me whether or not this is a black brant? It was seen at Blakeney in Norfolk on 8/4/11

Neck collar looks good, as does the very dark back. Shame the flanks are not visible-the white flanks contrast strongly with the dark back, belly and wings.

Looks interesting, but given the number of hybrids I'd want to see more of the bird before calling it one way or the other.

Thanks - it's a shame I couldn't get a better shot of it. it's the darkest one I've seen and much darker than any of the others there which was what made me wonder if I'd hit lucky.
