Hi,

Found this snake (about a metre long) in the Everglades National Park in February, as well as what I think is Brown Anole. Any help much appreciated!

Yes, the lizard is Brown Anole. The snake is one of the water snakes, most probably Florida Water Snake but I'll need to take a proper look on a decent sized screen (using phone at moment).

As a side note to the Brown Anole, they are not native to Florida. I grew up on the east coast of FL in the 70s and never saw one of these until late 70s or early 80s. All we had was the Carolina Anole (aka Green Anole). By the time I went off to school in the late 80s, the Carolina Anoles were hard to find and the Brown Anoles were everywhere. We called them Cuban Anoles at the time, most likely because they are native to Cuba and the Bahamas.

Thank you both for your replies. Unfortunately it was the only snake I managed to see in a couple of days in Florida, though saw a good few Brown Anoles (especially at Matheson Hammock in south Miami).
