I was camping near Moffat the other night when i saw a pair of Black Throated Divers.

I'm not a full on birder so is it normal for them to be this far south ?

Yes. They winter all around the entire UK coastline, return to breeding plumage and head back to the Lochs. Beautiful birds huh?

Thanks, they are indeed a stunning bird. Seen them before further north, was a little surprised to see them in the borders.

The waters right, the environments perfect! Friends from Ayr often pop along to watch them.

Great birds to see close up. Amazing in fact.
