Purple or House Finch??? Help please! (1 Viewer)

Hi,
Any help would be appreciated...I initially thought House Finch, but the photo in my field guide suggests the lighter bill is indicative of Purples!
Help please....

It's a House Finch. Purple finches dont have the brown steaks on its flanks.

One of the most helpful pieces of advice I've read about separating Purple from House Finch is that Purples (males) look like they've been "dipped in raspberry juice" the color is so widespread over the body and wings. :t:
