Hi, I'm 19 and I'm starting to get into bird watching. I've had a bit of an obsession with birds since I was about 12, I've always found taxonomy and the evolutionary history of species interesting. I also have 3 parrots. However, when it comes to actual bird watching experience I have none. So I'm here to learn about nature, bird watching and maybe photography especially for this season.

I wish I had started bird watching sooner, but I am glad I get to start now. So far I've had two major outings this month, the first one I spotted a pair of belted kingfishers but UNFORTUNATELY I forgot to put the SD card in the camera...However, the next time I went out made up for it. I got lots of good pics, and I spotted the first Great Egret of the season(at least according to the place I reported the sighting too)! The same day I also saw a pair of Osprey, a Great Blue Heron and a Merlin.

I'm particularly interested in birds of prey, and I'm hoping to see some owls which I haven't come across yet.

Here are what I consider to be my best pics so far.

Hi birdies and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

You've got some lovely pictures there - I hope we may see some of your work in the Gallery too.

but UNFORTUNATELY I forgot to put the SD card in the camera

LOL we've all been there... and some of us more than once!!! If it's not a card, it'll be the batteries, or fogetting the camera altogether.

You'd think we'd learn wouldn't you!
