Fully expected to id this bird from books... but failed miserably! Can anyone enlighten me? It was swimming close to the beach yesterday 19th November 2017 at Teignmouth in south Devon, UK, in calm waters.

Thanks both. Guillemot came to mind at first sight, but the books didn't seem to back it up. I should have known from living many years on the north-east coast!
