They look interesting, MountainMan,
I would say some type of Elstrildid Finch but I can't find anything in Birds of Borneo, Sumatra, Java & Bali by MacKinnon or Guide to Birds of Wallacea by Coates & Bishop.
Could they be a type of Parrotfinch or female Zebra Finch?
I reckon this is one for Rasmus.

Young or female Red Avadavats? Don't think Green as they should have distinct bands on the sides.
Have a look at

Red Avadavats have small populations in some areas on Indo.

That's what i think these are.

I didn't see them when i was around that area but i'm sure they occur

Amandava amandava - females. Race flavidiventris is listed as ranging in the Lesser Sundas.

Edit: I just noticed the proximity of Lombok to Bali. Race punicea of Amandava amandava naturally ranges on Java and Bali, and I guess because of Lombok's proximity to Bali, it must be considered as well.

Yep, Red Avadavats. They occur quite coomonly throughout Lesser Sundas in areas suitable for them without heavy persecution (farmers see them and munia's as pests to the rice harvest)

Red Avadavat

Hi all...
I'm a young student from Lombok where Rinjani mountain standing up. My main focus is on bird. I've conducted some observations at Senaru trail and Sembalun trail of Rinjani.
yes, that is Red Avadavat.
At Senaru trail, you can see this bird at POS III till Pelawangan Senaru. at Sembalun, you can see this bird at lowland, about 1200 asl. This area is not the official trail of Rinjani called Bawak Nao. from this trail, you can save 1,5 hours to POS I of Sembalun trail.

So far I know, there are 5 species of estrildidae on Rinjani mountain i.e. Red Avadavat, Pale-headed Munia, Tawny-breasted Parrotfinch, Javan Munia and the last one is Sacally-breasted munia.
