Nice action shot, could have been faster as you say, but a great composition nonetheless!

The spurs on some of the older cock birds are terrifying. Definitely something from which a potential rival should steer well clear.
 
Great capture! As you say pity about the shutter speed, but with these sort of shots you have to take the chance when it comes along, settings right or not!
 
Pheasants are game birds and most game birds fight dont they? Dont some people keep Quails, Partridges for figthing purposes?

Makes me wonder have Pheasants ever turned on Birds of Prey such as Goshawks, Buzzards if attacked?
