Shotgun Mic with Roland (2 Viewers)

I have a Roland R05 that I use with a parabola near at my house.
But I can't take with me the parabola for my trips abroad (going by plane).

So which shotgun mic could I use with my Roland R05?
With a MKE600 or a ME66/K6, for example, do I need any special cable?

thank you

The Sennheiser ME66/K6 is an excellent shotgun microphone to use with this recorder. Yes, you will need a cable made to interface with the XLR plug on the K6 module with a mini-stereo plug on the other end and wired for putting the sound signal in both the tip and ring of the mini-stereo (TRS) jack on the recorder. Such a cable is available from HOSA Manufacturing and sold by many dealers.

I looked at the dealer I use on-line product listing and came up with the following cable:

Excuse me, if I understand you said different things
Anders: so for you do I need KA-600i cable? (not XLR inputs)
But Mick suggests I will need a KA-660 to interface with the XLR plug...

or do both cables work with the Roland?

thank you in advance

Excuse me again: with a Rode NTG-2 mic, I suppose I need the same cable XLR-TRS, correct?
Could I buy a Sennheiser K600 or an Hosa cable too?
To test the Rode NTG-2 with an iPhone could could i use a K600i? :)

thank you

Great thread! I'm actually in same boat as the OP.

I have the R-05 (1/8" connector) and want to get the ME66/K6.

For cables, based on info in this thread, here's the cables that look best to me (I really want that right angle XLR connector, which, unfortunately, is hard to find as an all-in-one XLR to TRS 1/8" single cable):

If you look at the Q/A secion here:

I asked if the above cables would be a good mix.

Note this reply though:

owever I can't guarantee that you wont get some noise from this piece. It's worth the try at only being 18.49. Your best bet for this work flow is digital juice. But I would personally just upgrade your recorder to something with xlr inputs.

Makes me wonder, what would be an alternative to the R-05 that has the same level of quality and compactness? I really dig the R-09HR/05 design aesthetic. It's a perfect fit for pocket recording.

With that said, what do ya'll think of the above cable combination?

What would be your alternative pick to the R-05 recorder?

Thanks!
