I'm a Colorado birder who recently visited San Diego. At Murray Lakes park, I saw a Nutmeg Mannikin, which does appear in the NatGeo guide (listed as established in L.A.), but I don't see it on the AOU checklist.
Is the Mannikin accepted as a countable wild bird in California, or does it wallow in pet-store escapee status?
Thanks,
Dave in Denver
