Duck's teeth (1 Viewer)

Duck's "teeth"

I'd noticed in my photos before that mallards seemed to have ridges of some kind on the edges of their bill, but some shots I took yesterday showed it up much better and they look like teeth - first time I've seen this and probably well known but I found it fascinating! I'd always thought they just had smooth bills, maybe with a bit of roughness to rasp off vegetable matter - just shows how even the commonest bird can surprise! |:D|

I've attached a crop in on a photo of a hybrid mallard female that showed it well.
