Wasp 1 - Darter 0 (1 Viewer)

I was on a ford over a stream in Spain a couple of weeks ago waiting for honey buzzards. The area had a good head of red-veined darters and a few orange-winged dropwings to add to the interest.

My attention was drawn to a commotion on the ground and I saw a wasp and a red-veined darter struggling on the concrete. When I saw them both insects were alive, but by the time I got my camera up that was no longer the case.

I didn't see the beginning of the encounter, so I don't know who picked the fight, the dragon or the wasp, but there was no doubting the outcome. Less than two minutes elapsed between the first photo I took and the dragonfly being rendered into kit form.
