Found this gull today near Sacramento Ca. Any ideas as to what kind it may be?

First winter Glaucous-Winged Gull. Note the low contrasting plumage overall which is characteristic of this gull in all ages. Also those wing tips are about the same shade as the rest of the wing. The similar Thayer's and GWG x Herring Gull have wing tips that are slightly darker than the wing.

They're not terribly common inland but each year a few do wander inland. They are more likely to wander inland than other coastal gulls, especially youngsters.

There seems to be an influx of this species this year too.

Thanks Gentoo
These gulls follow the Salmon run from the coast so here in the middle we get some coastal gulls every fall/winter.
