Common or Spotted sandpiper? Gran Canaria, Spain (1 Viewer)

BirdingRob

Seen today along the rocky shore just north of Las Palmas.

I had already seen two common sandpiper in other places along the same coast. However this bird looked dumpier and with yellow legs. I think spotted sandpiper is a possibility.

It has lost a lot of flight feathers seemingly.

all help gratefully received.

Just noticed or am I imagining it but there appear to be some spots in towards the vent area

Thanks to you both.

I hope to visit the Canaries regularly as I work in Nouakchott, Mauritania and this is my closest and most direct R&R. I hope spotted sandpiper is the first rarity of many in the Canaries!
