Deer cull by mines giant sparks row....... (1 Viewer)

Phew..............
I hope to God that this employee is a suitably qualified and experienced marksperson...........

A mining giant has sparked a new row in Northumberland over its plans to shoot wild deer in woodland close to an opencast coal site. UK Coal - already under fire over the environmental impact of its massive Stobswood mine on local families - was claimed to be a "neighbour from hell" yesterday over its latest moves to cull a herd of roe deer. Villagers living near the woodland where the shooting is to take place are furious, saying there is no need to kill the deer and questioned the company's claim that the animals cause serious damage to young trees. UK Coal has introduced a new system under which one of its employees will use hides erected in woodland near Widdrington Village to control deer numbers using a powerful, high-velocity rifle.

That's disgusting. Deer and trees have lived together since time. Why all of a sudden are they a menace? Something stinks here!!
