I have a cement bird bath. I am wondering if its ok to leave it out all winter... or will the cement crack and break?? Thanks!

Hi Sue,

I know it is much colder in Canada than here but I have concrete flags etc. and they do not crack, I think the biggest problem will be the water freezing. I empty my bird baths when frost is forecast but I do not have to trudge through snow as you probably have to. Try a sheltered spot or even ask places that sell the birdbaths. I know some terracotta pots etc. are not frostproof even here and they have labels on.

Sorry I am probably not much help, hope one of our Canadian members sees your post soon and can advise you.

Good luck.

I had one for several years in Pennsylvania.I left it out year round. It never had a problem. It was a shallow type birdbath.Meaning the sides were a very low angle. It was the shape of a leaf that was dimpled in the middle so it was smooth.
I can't say for sure, but if it has steep sides it may crack if the water freezes.
