A clutch of variable "Plain Bushnells" (1 Viewer)

I got a lot of 3 Bushnells, not too old, at auction,
cleaned them up a little, and tried them out:

------------> Powerview 7x50 rapid focus, 367'@1000yd:
: bendy plastic arms, bright enough, but not super sharp....
I checked them against some 7x50 ~1955 Seefar precision-focused.
...which were brighter, much sharper, and better color than these.
Wow....it was not a good year for this model when they were made.

-------------> H2O 10x26, 283'@1000yd:
--everything looked pro on the outside, but not the sharpest through
the view, and a little chromatic...nowhere near the 8x25 H2os I tried
recently. I know higher power is a lot harder in low-cost.
but....this is just so-so. Also nowhere near the sharpness of the
Bear Grylls 8x25 model that's everywhere.

-and last---

,
Bushnell 10x25, 325'@1000yd, solid closed-bridge design.
---WOW! heh... I can't believe it: no model name..
Very sharp, amazing contrast for a 10x25, simply beautiful action.
I'm laughing typing this. Eureka. But..I can't refer to a model
I could tell you to try.

Reminds me of amazing 8x23 Bushnells I got with no model
number or name.

That last pair justifies the $35(including s+h) for the 3 of them, easily!
The other two...well, they aren't useless, and someone will have
fun. I'm putting the on the shop shelf cheap, though. Good
'starters'.

A mixed bag, to say the least.
I have some wonderful Bushnells around...and even beyond wonderful.
But, at the low end, they can be like "a box of chocolates", as Forrest Gump
would say.

O-nut,

For a second there I thought I read your 1st line to say "I got a lot of 3 bushels":eek!:3:)

Figured you were stocking up on parts!

Sure seems that way sometimes.
A lot of dead soldiers in the closet.
Some of the goodwill auction stuff is really beat.

The most massive dud so far, field-wise,
was a Meade weatherized porro 7x35.
Such a shame...fantastic build, and it seems like
a weird plastic field lens. Took a few minutes
for my eyes to get right.

These duds aren't too bad...just not up to par.
The "changling winner" 10x25 might join other "total surprise excellence" pairs.

Aha! On the nice one:

Bushnell doesn't seem to put their sticker in this now, but the 10x25 single-hinge is a twin
(in

to the Brunton 10x25 "Echo Compact":

Fairly new to Brunton, and very nice unit for the price. Super mechanics, clean view, great size.
Might have been a trial run for Bushnell. They have such a bewildering array of models.
So....I guess to get that Bushnell, get the Brunton.
