I visited a lovely B&B (Riverside Lodge) near Rhayader Mid-Wales last week with my wife & what a wonderful three days we had. The bird life is super with the magnificent Red Kite the pick of the bunch. Gigrin Farm is just a couple of minutes away by car, at three o'clock you can watch the Red Kites come into feed (saw a white one), plus Ravens & a few Buzzards. Also, a short distance from the B&B is the beautiful Elan Valley & the reservoirs that keep the Brummies well watered, saw Stonechats & Wheatears there.

Here is a list of the birds we saw from the B&B, many while sat having breakfast & looking out of the window.

Great Tit, Blue Tit, House Sparrow, Wren, Swift, Swallow, House Martin, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Chaffinch, Robin, Blackbird, Willow Warbler, Greenfinch, Siskin, Mallard, Woodpigeon, Red Kite, Buzzard & Sparrowhawk.

The owners, Barry & Gill also said that Kingfisher, Redstart, Pied Flycatchers, Owls & Otters have been seen.

It is a wonderful place to visit, we highly recommend it.

Rod & Linda.
