Swallow, barn or cliff? (Northern Virginia) (1 Viewer)

Hi, I took this picture today at Huntley Meadow Park in Northern Virginia. I thought it was a barn swallow, but its white "forehead" throws me off a little bit. Could this be a cliff swallow?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks all.

My first thought was barn swallow too (there are barn swallows in the area). Like I said, the white "forehead" confuses me; however, I think this maybe because it is not a fully mature bird ... is that a reasonable thinking?

Yes. It is a juvenile Barn Swallow.

That's right--note also the comparatively short tail.
