Newish to birding
I started birding in 2004, but in 2007 suffered a stroke resulting in me having to seriously curtail my interest. Now I am unable to drive and that seriously limits my opportunities to see 'unusual' species, but I'm a tenacious old soul, so have found a variety of sights near where I live. I guess most of you would look at my sightings and think "dull" and "boring", but every sighting for me remains a joy

Good for you! My father had a stroke in 2002 and lost use of his left leg and arm but is now able to walk around pretty well. He isn't able to hike like he used to but he sure does appreciate the things he can do a lot more and so do I. Glad to hear that you are still enjoying the things you love.

I wouldn't say it's boring as long as you're having fun! Birds can be enjoyed by people of any ability. Besides, watching them out your window can be a whole lot of fun. I have a lot of fun sitting out on my porch and watching them.

Pleased to note that that you're again able to take an active interest, good on yer. There are plenty of sites in reasonable distance of Stafford & a lot of the operational organisations have internet websites which usually explain access details. Look at Cannock Chase, Doxey Marsh, Staffs Wildlife Trust site for starters RSPB at Coombes Valley (Nr. Leek) may also be of interest & I personally can & will help & advise on various Cheshire & North West sites should you wish to venture further afield, feel free to pm me for info if you require.
Also don't underestimate your own garden and or your immediate local patch. You'll be amazed how many species you can attract by simple food & feeding techniques in your own back yard, you will need to be patient initially & vary presentation methods & food types to expand your species range. Also keep an eye on the local patch forum for Staffs on this site, you'll be amazed just how many species can be seen within a 15mile radius. P.S. Dull & Boring.....never. Good luck & good birding.
