When to clean out boxes. (1 Viewer)

Hello,
Last February we installed five bird boxes around the garden, three of which have been used more than once during the past year by tits and then sparrows.... which is why we never thought about cleaning them out. Is winter a good time although I'm aware that birds may be roosting in them?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Its always best to clear them out during Autumn when its quiet so they will be ready for the following year.
