Otter with flatfish, cuts on it's tail seem to be made by Crows (1 Viewer)

I filmed this Otter from my terrace (SW Norway) - it came ashore with a large flatfish. Interesting enough in its own right but look at what the Hooded Crows are doing - pecking the Otter's tail to get it to move so they can grab morsels.

Is it possible the cut/sore on the Otter's tail was caused by the crows?

Some Great Black-backed Gulls turned up at which point the Otter gave up. A White-tailed Eagle ended it all by taking the flatfish with it. No video of this unfortunately but a few stills http://oeygardenbirds.blogspot.no/2017/03/nautnes-24-march-2017-another-day-at.html.

I'd say its possible but unlikely. Otter fur is very thick and would take something considerable to penetrate it. An argument with another Otter is probably a more likely source of the cuts, but Hoodies being smart and opportunist I would expect them to take full advantage of it.

Sounds a great series of observations!
