Choughs in Large Numbers (1 Viewer)

Today above Aber Falls, I saw a flock of around sixty Choughs! Many were youngsters.
Amazed at the number: the largest flock I've ever seen.
They must have had a brilliant breeding season in North Wales!

Oooh my!!! You lucky b... umm boy H!!!

I've only ever managed singles or small groups of them. What a wonderful sight that must have been. Great news indeed.

The pair of chough around my area have disappeared. Haven't seen them in months.

Wow! I've seen smaller flocks on La Palma and in Crete (Alpine too) but 60 is very, very cool.

My ability in the Irish language is almost minimal, so I'm not quite sure where about in Mayo your area is. When I was in Mayo for 3 days last October I had a short visit to Achill Island, but "dipped" the choughs.

Just outside Belmullet (NW Mayo).

Corncrake,skylarks breeding in summer. Barnacle geese, greylag geese in winter. Hopefully twite come 2016!
