I was recently at the NikonUSA website and they're advertising
the new Nikon Fieldscope 80mm ED spotting scope.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about this?

I too am looking to purchase a spotting scope, and doing my
research (I have to, my wife is making me give her a presentation
in order to justify the purchase).

Haven't heard about it, but I've always been impressed by the optics of their previous ED scopes... they just feel a bit heavy and unbalanced to me. Hopefully a new version will be improved, espescially when everyone is making sleek compact and lightweight 80mm scopes now.
