Black vulture webcam (1 Viewer)

The Tri-State VultureCam is up and running for 2014. The adult male, tagged #17 last year, has been hanging around the Vulture Shed with another vulture that may be his wily girlfriend from last year who eluded capture. We are hopeful they will nest again in the same shed, where we now have four cameras recording video 24/7 for research purposes.

One of our long-term research objectives is to determine whether the same pair occupies the shed each year or if occupancy changes, possibly resulting from some form or competition. Another objective of this multi-generational study is to describe ongoing working relationships between family members from year to year.

As in previous years, we are recording video and audio, as available, from all cameras, 24/7 for research purposes. However, our computer only streams video from the website for one camera at a time. We try to display the most interesting vulture behavior at any given moment. Postings at this site from viewers relating to observations of vulture behavior or suggestions for research are most welcome.

A black vulture pair has returned to the shed in Northern Delaware for the 2017 breeding season. First egg was laid last night (Feb 22, 2017). For links to live video, google "black vulture cam."

Female laid egg at 11:28 after male left shed. He returned and took over incubation at 10:00 AM the following morning. Based upon previous experience, a second egg is expected within a couple days.

This thread is about Eurasian Black Vulture (or 'Monk Vulture'), not the American species.
