Blackbirds nest (1 Viewer)

Hi, all new to this forum, just need some information if possible please?
We have a blackbirds nest in our garden, 2 babies in the nest and one egg, which Mum Blackbird has been nesting on with the 2 babies. Yesterday the nest was disturbed and the 2 babies scrambled out, they managed to get back to the bush where the nest is, however since then we haven't seen Mum about.
Dad has been seen this morning feeding the babies. I'm worried about the egg. Has mum abandoned it? Why isn't she feeding? You comments would be appreciated. Thank you :)

Hi Tanzi and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

If the two youngsters are mobile enough to scramble about in the bush, then presumably they are about ready to fledge anyway, which would mean that the remaining egg is not fertile. All the eggs should hatch within a day or two of each other.

Just leave it to the adults and try to keep cats away from them if possible.

Please let us know how you get on - we have some general guidelines here for the care of injured and baby birds.
