Bird Points Game Version 2.0 - ABA Life List Edition! (1 Viewer)

I think BC is where Sooty and Dusky overlap (making it tricky tricky), it probably depends on where in BC the bird was seen. I was recently in central washington, where it appeared that they overlapped, but I only got possitive confirmation on a Dusky.

Hi All,

Belatedly curious to see what my trotting about in North America would yield.
Round 1: 53
Round 2: 63
for a total of 116.

I haven't even worked out my ABA list in a couple of years and now I'm doing the Bird Points game. Go figure.

Chris

58 points so far for me. Nothing above level 2, except Eurasian Wigeon.

Larry, I think it's probably easier to leave the level 6 birds than edit them out. Realistically the only species that is a 6 and someone could have is Condor (I think).

Who knows, maybe some 200 year-old birder will show up.

I live in the interior of BC, does that help?

CL

I honestly can't tell you if there is anybody out there who really knows yet.

And people complained about pelagics last time!

Meet installment #3 everybody. Welcome a new guest to this checklist - Ringed Storm-Petrel, which proabbly won't hold it's crown as a 5 for very long, as it was seen again off a pelagic in CA recently.

Hi All,

This ol' man gets 50 for round 3.

Chris

Oh, and about the Code 6 birds. I've got two colleagues who could put down Eskimo Curlew (one of the last Galveston birds seen in 1961 if I remember right).

Ouch... this one is really painful - a big goose egg for me! That will change soon after I go on a couple Monterey Bay pelagics. My score remains at 70.

Neil G.

I am afraid Chris is going to leave us all "in the dust"!

I only got eleven (11) in round three!
Round #1 33
Round #2 43
Round #3 11 (these I got from my one and only 1/2 day pelagic trip out of Westport, Washington)

Total ..... 87

Speaking of Code 6 Birds........
It might be interesting to see if any responders get some of the birds "down the road" like Bachman's Warbler or Ivory-billed Woodpecker. Some older birders might be able to accomplish this.
However, it would appear that most of the respondents are under 20 years of age.

Hi Larry,

I've actually met a couple of folks who have seen Bachman's Warbler (early 70's, if I remember right), and at least one who claims to have seen IBWO long ago, so I think they're out there. But not in this crowd.

I've got an unfair advantage here, so I am taking myself out of the competition. I'll post my numbers just so I can see how they compare, but since I'm at least 20 years older than most of the competition, that hardly seems fair.

Round 1: 53
Round 2: 63
Round 3: 50
Total: 166

Chris

I wait for twenty minutes waiting for someone to make post 50 so I can get the scoreboard up, then you all come along and post ten times before I'm back.

Anyway, Chris don't back out. More people of greater age may join later on. This game is for anybody and everybody.

Well, I'm pretty old, but with only one (1) pelagic trip "under my belt" I do not have too many seabirds. I have not been birding in the eastern US very much either (except for some in New Jersey and New York during some family visits).
