Hello, I took a photo of a young snake in small town Primorsko, Burgas region, Bulgaria. It looks as Hierophis gemonensis / Balkan whip snake, but the problem is that tis kind of snakes are not living in Bulgaria.
Maybe someone can confirm or deny this kind of snake...
Thank you!

Hello, Mario!
Thank you for that you professionally decided my riddle.
It was the second version of the alleged decision)
Indeed, such snakes inhabit the area of Primorsko, and this is confirmed by reference http://cs.balcanica.info/1-38-4

I am very grateful to you also for the Amphibians and Reptiles Database link!
Good luck in all affairs!

Whipsnake was my first thought as well.

With 3 brothers I was surrounded by snakes of all kinds. My mother was ready to kill them all... the kids, not the snakes ;)

Hello, Samandag!
Thanks, it is very probable assumption, the snake looked exactly like this
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Natrix_natrix#/media/File:Natrix_natrix_persa1.jpg
The only difference, it has one white stripe in the middle of the back, instead of two white stripes. But I could be wrong...
I actually filmed it close to the sea and small water bodies, i will continue surveillance, hoping to see her more.
Good luck to you!
Katya

Yes, very often the specimen to hand may not look exactly like a 'typical' photo ;) ; these can be fairly often encountered and hopefully you may have the opportunity for some more photos.

Many thanks for posting.

Best wishes,
