Bird ID -Thailand (1 Viewer)

Hi

I have a friend who has just come back from Thailand and was hoping to ID this bird. Owen and I thought it was a female Rufous-collared Kingfisher (Actenoides concretus) but are not sure on the sub- species? probably peristephes (Deignan, 1946) or concretus (Temminck, 1825). Any suggestions? (and are we right on the spp?)

Thanks for your help in advance,

Sarah

Juvenile Rufous-collared Kingfisher. Probably a male because of the brown bill with a yellow tip. Actenoides concretus Don't know about the sub-species.

It was the speckles on the back that made me think it was female but I haven't really looked at the juvenile your pictures before. Thanks for both your help.
