Well, it was raining I now notice. . .. At a current temp of 97°F and even hotter days predicted for the coming week we sure could use some rain here in Reno.

weather wise, the same as fugl's thoughts.

I hope its unusual appearance is more to do with moulting than mites. I sometimes have five or six of these finches on at the same time and I've never seen one look like this, no matter the weather.
