Hey folks!

Hi everyone,

I'm a college student in Westchester County who got really into birding in the past year. I took a Field Biology class in the fall which was basically just field trips to study local birds and botany. It was really exciting, and definitely got me interested in birding.

Then I took a class entitled "Birds: Ornithology and Literature," which was the study of birds from both a scientific/ecological perspective as well as from a literature perspective. We read a lot of poems about/involving birds, as well as studied evolution, taxonomy, and identification. At the end of this class, I caved and bought my first pair of "real" binoculars...(Barska Naturescape Series) which are serving me very well. I've been watching mostly birds on my college campus (SUNY Purchase) and occasionally down on the Long Island Sound in Rye, nearby.

I'm actually leaving Purchase to go to Costa Rica to study tropical ecology in September, so I'm pretty excited about watching birds down there!
