bird census (1 Viewer)

My name is Jero
Although winter is near, but the temperature is still high in Shen Zhen today,30 degrees centigrade just like summer.
Area of mudflat is large while glancing from grassland to eastward. Black-tailed Godwit are all busy on their way searching food and eating, around 380 numbers in total. I guess they may be newcomers to Shenzhen Bay this winter.
We 3 members
from SZBWS(ShenZhen Bird Watching Society)start bird census at 10 AM as scheduled monthly plan, consurrently with HKBWS. Eurasian Curlew and Whimbrel is new to me,2-3 here and there. Large and little Egret, Grey Heron are common here. We are regret not to meet Black-faced Spoonbill, but Im sure they will come soon as last year in a certain numbers. We saw as well small one like Pacific Golden Plover, little ringed Plover,Greater Sand Plover and others.
A fleet of Tern flying over the sea level is to far to indentify they are common or black-naped. Any they may be countered by HKBWS.
One hour census is over, records is attached. From now on,more and more birds are comming in garden, beach, and bushes in garden. We are happy to see their natural and freedom state by binoculars, likely to enjoy oil-paint in wood or forests. ShenZhen shares good reputation-the city in forest.

It seems you had a very good hour coffedot!

Thank you for telling us about it.

As you know, your census work is much more important than casual birding and as time goes on it will become more and more valuable..and satisfying! Be careful, you may find yourself visiting your census area more often, getting casual records as one tends to get very fond of one's site. Keep it up :t:

Good luck with Black-faced Spoonbill.
