Racing to stop the slaughter of migrating birds (1 Viewer)

Millions of migrating songbirds are killed for food, for profit or just for the joy of shooting something, as they move from their winter grounds in Africa to their summer breeding territories in Europe each year.

The "Champions of the Flyway", an international bird race taking place in Eilat Israel on 1st April 2014, has been organised by BirdLife International to raise funds, so that this senseless slaughter of birds in Southern & Eastern Europe can be tackled.

Please support our team, the "Sprinters" -Marc Guyt, Gert Ottens, Martijn Verdoes and Ken Billington (myself) - in our fundraising efforts for BirdLife International and this worthy cause.

It is worse in Lebanon and especially Egypt where mist nets are erected through 750 kms of coast line . Millions of migrants are killed every year . We in Kenya have noticed a sharp decline of migrants coming through !

Malta, Cyprus, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel ............... not a good part of the World to be going through if you are a bird!!

Seems it's against the law in all these places but enforcement is the real problem!
