Today was at Bletchley Park Museum, Milton Keynes, where I do regular volunteer shifts, on the way back to the car I heard something that sounded somewhatlike geese overhead (only not quite). Looking up, two large slender white birds, calling as they flew. Must have been whooper swans - definitely not geese, too large for Bewick's, too noisy for mutes.
For a few moments I thought they were going to land on the BP lake (which would have been wonderful, but also slightly annoying since I didn't have my camera!) but after circling once or twice they flew off.
A privilege to see them. They are here in the UK only in the winter-time, they love the cold, will migrate north to breed in the spring.
cheers
