Quick release head for Monopod (1 Viewer)

Roy C

Occasional bird snapper
To save me having to unscrew the lensplate each time I use a Monopod,I am looking for a quick release head for a 'Arca-Swiss' style lensplate, nothing fancy like tilt or panning functions just a straight forward lightweight head.
Having a look around the web I cannot find anything, does anyone know of such a head? Thanks in advance.

What does ''arca swiss'' mean and are there any benefits over it to a qr plate and clamp?

Arca-swiss in this context is basically a type of QR plate & clamp. It is the professionals choice & is very "safe". There are various companys that make arca-swiss type plates & clamps. All are interchangeable so a wimberley plate will fit a kirk clamp for example. Some companys that make them are Kirk, Wimberley, Jobu & acratech. There are undoubtably others also. Gitzo do a conversion for their clamps.

Being new to "outdoor" photography and reading between the lines about the "Arca Swiss" style plates, can I take it the quick release clamps on the Giottos and Manfrotto type of head are not so reliable?

They are just as good, but they are not compatable with each other. All the arca-swiss clamps plates & feet should fit each other, giving a much bigger choice.
