Hello everyone, this is my first post. Im in the U.S. Military stationed on an island located in the heart of the Indian Ocean, just above the equator. Anyway ive searched all over the web too find this bird and have come up with nothing on its name.I am eager to post this as my first pic in the gallery so any help on this birds ID would be great, thanks.

They look like Brown Noddy to me.

Hi Wojo,

And welcome to Bird Forum! Yes, these are Brown Noddies (a kind of tern). They're quite a common seabird through much of the world's tropical oceans.

Thanks fellas, im from Pennsylvania so im not very familiar with alot of seabirds. I guess the reason i couldnt find it on the net was because i thought it resembled a gull and was looking in that direction. Thanks again!

Hi Wojo and welcome to BirdForum from the Moderators and Staff.
We look forward to seeing more of your photos and as you've seen, they generally get ID'd if you're unsure.

Hi Wojo, Welcome aboard! Visited your base several times in my military days. You never know what will show up there though. Yes they are Brown Noddys, adult on the right & a typical immature on the left. Good photos too!

Hal
