Mystery over a year in Northern California, US (1 Viewer)

This is driving me crazy. I've been trying to find out what this bird is, by its song, for over a year now. This recording was done in March 2015, and I've been hearing the same song all summer this year too. I never see it, I can only hear it.

I think it is a sparrow, but not sure. If it is a mocking bird I will mourn the hours I have spent trying to solve this mystery.

It's a song sparrow. They have all sorts of variants on their typical song.
